Wrexham beat champions Stockport 2-1Already secured promotion to League One McElhenney reflects on 'magical season'Instagram @paulmullin12WHAT HAPPENED?
The Red Dragons confirmed their automatic promotion to League One a couple of weeks ago, and while they failed to win the League Two title over Stockport, they managed to sweeten the situation by beating the champions on the last matchday of the regular season. McElhenney has now opened up on Wrexham's "magical season".

Speaking to BBC Sport after the game, the actor said: "It's been a magical season. It's been an incredible year and this was just the icing on the cake.
"We didn't expect promotion to come so quickly. I'd be lying if I said we didn't expect that we would be up there – and that’s just based on conversations we'd had with Phil [Parkinson] throughout the off-season.
"Even as we stumbled at the beginning, he had a steady hand and he felt we'd be up there near the top – if not the top three then in play-off contention – so we felt pretty confident, but you never know with football."

The 'It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia' actor bought the Red Dragons in 2020 with fellow actor Ryan Reynolds, and since then, the club's fortunes have changed for the better. Over the last two years, they have managed to secure back-to-back promotions and will now take part in the third tier of English football as they look to keep moving towards their goal of becoming part of the Premier League.
WHAT NEXT FOR WREXHAM?
With their season now over, the Red Dragons will begin preparations for their tenure in League One. They will return to action during their pre-season tour in the United States and Canada towards the end of July.
